Crispin’s training so far
January 2, 2010
With a few days off work, and several members of our support crew* staying for Christmas, I’ve actually managed t0 get the trainers on…
25th Dec:- Pen Y Fan of course, running and sledging, 3.5 miles.
26th Dec:- Cribarth, Henryd Falls etc with Naomi’s family. 8.5 miles, 2 hours.
27th-28th:- can’t remember, probably ate some mince pies very fast.
29th Dec:- Brecon to Merthyr up and over the Brecon Beacons in snow, about 17 miles, 2 hours 15.
New Year’s Eve:- Nos Galan 5km race. 17:31, much chundering at finish.
1st Jan:- 23 mins jog around Brecon in blizzard, feeling slightly delirious.
2nd Jan:- Hay on Wye to the Castle Inn, Pengenfford vie Hay Bluff, Lord Hereford’s Knob, etc. Proper winter conditions, nearly had to bail out when I couldn’t make any progress in crusted knee deep snow – shins cut to bits – and it was getting dark, but made it for my pint of Rhymney in the end. 10 miles, 2 hours 30 mins.
Chilly scenes in the Black Mountains. Sun going down and everything going blue.
Getting properly dark now and I need a pint…
* more about the support crew will emerge, but Naomi’s parents Mike and Sally look like the backbone, with sister Joanna providing extra medical input.
